In today's episode we are joined by Nick Winkelman. He is Head of Performance for the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and former Director of Training Systems and Education for EXOS (formerly Athlete's Performance). The Language of Coaching: The Art & Science of Teaching Movement is Nick's newly released book that aims to teach people in the profession about a new approach to movement coaching and rehabilitation. Nick has been a coach for over 15 years and found his calling as a “gym junkie” at just 15 years old. During Nick's career, he has worked hard to continuously learn and improve through completing multiple internships before being offered a full-time coaching position at EXOS in 2007. This led Nick to be able to work alongside professional athletes and help American football players prepare for the NFL Combine.
“There is a science of coaching, and once you understand that science, it expands your artistic expression of it.” – Nick Winkelman
